Supported Import Platforms

Supernova supports the most common platforms for the creation of your designs:

  • Sketch and Adobe XD (support for Figma is coming soon)

Below you'll find a detailed list of all the supported platforms and the differences between them.

Limitations

  • Resizing in Sketch is being considered for Supernova rules, but not obeyed fully. Starlight engine makes nearly flawless predictions about how the layout rules should work and so in some situations takes precedence over your decisions. Option to force your rules is planned for some of the future releases.
  • Navigation hotspots in Sketch are completely ignored. This is because hotspots don't make sense in mobile apps - navigation is always invoked from the components. We recommend you do the navigation inside Supernova instead - for one, the options within Supernova are far more powerful than what Sketch offers and also when you do any design changes, the navigation is preserved so you are not losing any of your work.
  • Radial gradients are converted into assets because they can't be represented in any other way in mobile platforms (and it is what the developer will do anyway).
  • Due to the way the Supernova Studio engine works, Export layer settings in Sketch files are not respected.

Import - Adobe XD

  • Animations are ignored for now. This is mostly because Adobe XD uses a different system of making interpolations between screen states that are not at all compatible with the way animations are done in mobile apps. We are currently exploring ways to work around that.
  • Resizing of image fills is not fully supported
  • Radial gradients are converted into assets because they can't be represented in any other way in mobile platforms (and it is what the developer will do anyway)
  • Due to the way the Supernova Studio engine works, Mark for Export layer settings in XD files are not respected.
